UPDATE FEB 21 10pm
Practice tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd, 4pm-6pm.
Forecast calls for a high of 60 degrees -- which is too good to pass up.
Meet at the far, north end of the back parking lot at Burley.
We'll fill out some forms, meet everyone that can make it, answer equipment questions, and talk a little bit about throwing, catching, and ground balls.
All kids from all grades are invited. There won't be any intense physical interaction between kids of different sizes.
If you can't make it, don't worry.
We hope to try again on Thursday 23rd.

UPDATE FEB 15
Virginia Womens Lacrosse has their first game of the season this Saturday (Feb 18).
Cavaliers are ranked #10 in the pre-season polls and host #7 Loyola (Md.) at Klockner Stadium at 2:30pm.
Loyola beat Virginia 15-8 last year in the season opener in Baltimore.
Loyola returns only one of their top six scorers from 2011, and Virginia returns all of their top seven, so we are hoping Virginia can pull out a victory to start the season.
All seats are General Admission.
Tickets (at the door) are $8 for ages 19-59, and $6 for those younger or older.
If we can get a group of 20 to commit in advance, we could get tickets for $4 each.
UPDATE FEB 14
We are not allowed to use the field inside the track for lacrosse practice.
The field just west of the track (below the basketball court) is often too wet and swampy.
The field just north of the lower parking lot is too small, and you would lose all your balls in the woods.
We have been assigned to the outfield at the Burley Baseball Field on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
We need to fit four practices into those three days (5-6, 5-6, 7-8, 7-8).
Tentative practice schedule for the season, beginning Monday March 5.
Monday 4:30-6:30 5th6th Grade
Thursday 4:30-6:30 5th6th Grade
Wednesday 4:30-6:30 7th8th Grade
Thursday 4:30-6:30 7th8th Grade
We may try to practice before March 5 on a day if/when the forecast is 60 degrees or above and relatively dry.
If you think that's too much time for your kid to practice lacrosse, I understand.
I love lacrosse though, and I love teaching it to little kids.
And the more time I have to practice, the more I can teach.
If your child can only attend part of a practice, I understand, and we will be glad to have her for the time she is available.
Some weeks we will practice 240 minutes, but . . .
There is a good chance that some of these practices will get rained out, or be cancelled because of cold weather.
Some of these practices will have to be cancelled on the days that Bailey plays for Monticello, UNLESS, some of the other assistants can step up.
So although some weeks may max out at 240 minutes of practice, there is no way we will average that much practice over the course of the season.
UPDATE FEB 13
The roster has a maximum of 20 spots.
As of Sunday Feb 12, the 5th6th grade team has eleven kids signed up.

UPDATE FEB 7
If you are interested in playing Girls Lacrosse for the Burley 5th/6th Grade Team in the AGLL this Spring, please register soon. The deadline is Wednesday February 22.
As of Feb 5, the 5th6th grade team had only six kids signed up.
The roster has a maximum of 20 spots.
Exact coaching staff and field locations are still to be determined.
Most likely scenarios are:
5th6th Grade team has Mark Mincer as Head Coach, with Mike Smith and Scott Jolly helping out as their schedule permits.
7th8th Grade team has Mark Mincer as Head Coach, with Greg Brannock and Stacey Larese helping out as their schedule permits.
Some practices will be in the outfield of the baseball field at Burley. I am still trying to secure another field to give us the practice time we need to be successful. Hope to have all the field details cleared up by Monday February 13.
If one of our fields ends up not being at Burley, we won't be able to start until 4:30 and will likely practice til 6:30 AND, we will need parent volunteers to transport kids from Burley to the practice (same as last year).
Practices officially start March 5.
Games are on Sundays March 18, 25 April 1, 15, 22, 29
End of Season (One-day) Tournament May 6
NO GAMES on Easter (April 8)
NO GAMES on Mother's Day (May 13)
5th6th graders always have games vs. other 5th6th grade teams.
7th8th graders always have games vs. other 7th8th grade teams.
If you have any questions, please email me or send me a text.
